Weekend of food
It was a pretty busy weekend for us…..
Friday night our friend, Bryan, was throwing his girlfriend, Erin, a dinner birthday party. I offered to bring dessert, which, will be featured here on Tuesday!
Saturday, I woke up with a cold and wanted to just hibernate at home. I did the weekly grocery shopping and came home and did just that! Now, when I get sick, I don’t lay around watching tv, reading or sleeping; I cook. In the mist of all the “things” I wanted to make this weekend, I remembered once when I was about 12 or 13 and I stayed home sick from school. I was bored out of mind and made floating islands (which were a disaster) and cream puffs in the shape of swans. Some things will never change.
Today, I made a lasagna, brunt salted caramel sauce and bittersweet ganache topping (had bought two kinds of ice cream to take) for a dinner we were going to.
As well, I made 10 cups of chicken stock for the freezer. I have been into making stock ever since I saw Lolo’s post on a veggie stock. It is so flavorful and really easy.
I wanted to have some bread around for the mornings as well we were stopping by see our friends Will and Beth, to meet Will’s parents and the newest addition to their family, so we decided to that it would be nice to bringsomething over. So, to top it all off, when my little friend and god-daughter, Maggie, stopped by, we decided to make some zucchini bread and muffins using the basic concept that Jaden used for her recipe – I did not have all the right ingredients so I comprised a lot!
Am I rested, well, a little; at least we were eating well! Can’t you wait to see what we have in store for dinner on Sunday …..

Killer bread recipe!! I love the lasagne too…it all looks so delicious!
